Laird Prosser Memorial Mile

This event is named in honor of one of Alaska’s best distance runners, Laird Prosser. Here’s what Skinny Raven’s John Clark had to say about Prosser:

“Laird Prosser was one of the best of the many great runners I have been privileged to coach. But our relationship went far beyond just helping him run faster than anyone ever had at Dimond High, where I coached for 20 years. It was the way he did it, the way he conducted himself and the way we supported each other even after his running career was over. Laird epitomized all the things I wish I could have been when I was a young athlete.”

Featuring Alaskan alumni and other eager participants, this mile race provides a high level of competition for all those involved.

If you are interested in competing in this year’s mile, please review the following and then submit an application.

  • Race Date and Time

    • Saturday, April 5th at 12:40PM.

    • Competitors shall check in by 12:00PM.

  • Location

    • The Dome

  • Registration 

    • Opens February 1st and closes March 26th.

    • Applications must include seed time since January 1st, 2024.

      • Race or time trial is permitted.

      • Preferred Qualifying Times

        • Male: Sub 5:00.00

        • Female: Sub 6:00.00

    • Top 16 male and female times will be selected for competition.

    • Registration Fee: $0

    • Ages: Open to all high school graduates and older.

    Prizes

    • 1st Place Male and Female: $500

    • 2nd Place Male and Female: $300

    • 3rd Place Male and Female: $100

    • Additional $500 to male or female finisher who breaks existing event record

      • Male: Trevor Dunbar, 4:02.88

      • Female: Allie Ostrander, 4:41.03
